The Alpharetta Aesthetic Dental Studio has a Compassionate Team.   We understand fear of dentistry. Dr. Leafe is a healed dental phobic. As a child with many cavities from poor eating habits, Dr. Leafe spent many after school hours in the dental chair having fillings placed without anesthesia because he was afraid of the “needle”. Now, years later, he is healed of that terrible fear, as a result of research and experience at being able to provide dental services pain free. He has developed these pain-free techniques through years of experience with thousands of patience. Treating patients this way, he has developed a reputation for turning the fearful patient, only going to the dentist when absolutely necessary, into a joyful (happy) patient, anxious to return.

Nitrous Oxide is useful for eliminating anxiety and many times a gag reflex. Nitrous oxide is a gas that is mixed with oxygen and breathed by the patient during a procedure. This gas reduces the anxiety (fear) and makes the experience comfortable especially when combined with music. The nitrous oxide is flushed out of the system prior to finishing the dental procedure and the patient is able to leave unaccompanied by another adult. (more information)

Premedication (Sedation) is an additional mean of reducing anxiety. Medication is prescribed by the doctor and taken one hour before the treatment is begun. This sedated patient must be driven to and from the dental office.

Laser Anesthesia is one of the most recent advances in the control and elimination of fear of dental procedures. Prior to the use of lasers, local anesthesia (“THE NEEDLE”) was the only way to numb a tooth before work was done in a painless way. Now many times a laser can numb a tooth, and allow the tooth to be worked on without pain.

A laser beam and water is directed on the diseased tooth for ninety seconds. The cavity removed, tooth filled, and the patient leaves without having pain during injection, treatment, or a numbed lip afterwards

Topical Jelly Anesthesia for hygiene visits can be used to control pain. This works very well for patients having treatment of infected gums, eliminating the need for injection.
